The airline industry is benefiting from advances in machine to machine (M2M) technologies. There is no lay-by at 5000 feet, hence the safety and airworthiness of an aircraft in-flight is paramount. Equally, detailed knowledge of the state of the aircraft’s engines and parts is essential. M2M makes possible a more detailed and timely assessment of both these factors, compared with the absence of M2M.
